Breguet x Frieze London 2024

Journey through the stars in the work of Naminapu Maymuru-White. A member of the Maŋgalili clan based in Yirrkala, Australia, the artist’s work is presented in ‘River of Stars’, the latest chapter of curator @jenncellis’s collaboration for Breguet. One of the first Yolŋu women to be taught the sacred design of her people, Maymuru-White’s work tells epic origin stories. In the Breguet Lounge, a multi-part bark piece and installation relates a journey of death and rebirth. Its timelessness, painstaking process and narrative of the heavens all speak to what Ellis calls Breguet’s tradition of ‘history, storytelling and the celestial’.
